Automatic Gate Safety Standards & Legislation
The most important product-related standards for powered and automatic gates are those that are harmonised to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, a full list of which is available via the European Commission website:
http://ec.europa.eu/growth/single-market/european-standards/harmonised-standards/machinery/
Harmonised standards are categorised as A-type, B-type and C-type standards, so the list below is presented the same way. Additional non-harmonised standards and other documents are listed at the end.
All automatic gates supplied and installed by Procter Contracts comply with relevant standards, regulations and codes of practice.
A-type standards: these specify basic concepts, terminology and design principles applicable to all categories of machinery.

BS EN 547-1:1996 +A1:2008 | Safety of machinery. Human body measurements. Principles for determining the dimensions required for openings for whole body access into machinery |
BS EN 547-2:1996 +A1:2008 | Safety of machinery. Human body measurements. Principles for determining the dimensions required for access openings |
BS EN 547-3:1996 +A1:2008 | Safety of machinery. Human body measurements. Anthropometric data |
