Fencing, gates and street furniture for new-build school
The Background
Procter Contracts supplies and installs fencing, gates and street furniture for new-build school
Procter Contracts has supplied and installed a comprehensive package of fencing, gates and street furniture for the transformation of a High School in Newport, helping BAM Construction to achieve successful completion of the project.
The project saw the formation of a brand-new Welsh school – Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed, which is Newport’s first Welsh language secondary school, as well as a new teaching block for the existing English medium school, John Frost School.
The Solution
The John Frost School, like any new-build school, was a complex project and inevitably challenges arose in relation to specifications, designs and scheduling. However, Procter Contracts often works on large projects and took everything in its stride.
A full range of perimeter fencing were supplied and installed, including high-security perimeter and boundary fencing, as well as an extensive range of standard and bespoke gate designs for use by vehicles and pedestrians. In addition, Procter Contracts installed a range of standard and bespoke street furniture throughout the site, including a full range of cycle shelters. In total, the contract was worth approximately £80,000.
The Result or Feedback
The project comprised of over 30 phases, with sectional handovers designed to allow the existing English school to remain operational throughout the works. The project went on to be shortlisted in the prestigious Education Buildings Wales Awards in 2019, in both ‘Innovation in Delivering Value’ and ‘Project of the Year’ categories.
